Moms night out

Break out the hot jeans, ladies.

Tonight is just for us (though, if you must bring them, boys are welcome, too)!

Moms night out starts at 7 p.m. at The Boulevard, 15244 West Maple Road.

I'm a tad excited. (!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Come meet me and the Mom Team members, as well as daddy blogger Al Watts.

Enjoy free Mexican food from La Mesa and a free drink. Stop by our table, ladies, for your free drink ticket. And help yourself to the buffet.

Do up your hair, but don't worry if it's perfect because stylists from Trios Salon will touch it up for us. They'll also be giving away free product samples. (How awesome is this?)

We're giving stuff away, too. Enter our drawing to win $100 and $50 gift certificates from Trios Salon and an hour-long photo session and CD with edited photos from local photographer Nikki Moseman.

Also, pick up a momaha.com T-shirt for $5 or a momaha.com tote bag for $2. All sales will go to a local organization that helps women and/or children. We'll let you vote tonight on where the money should go.

Finally, Cover band Dirty Secret takes the stage at 9 p.m.

What's not to like about this, moms?

See you there.

I think that the t-shirts and totes were adorable and the one person from the Mom Team I met at the table was very friendly. I had a GREAT time with my friends; but truthfully, it wasn't what I expected. I thought the Mom Team would be a little more social - going around the venue introducing themselves and getting to know some of the moms/forum participatnts - and maybe they did do that some, but NOBODY stopped by the table where were seated. I also expected that this would be more of a forum where we would have an opportunity to meet other moms and it seemed sadly, very cliquish and in some cases, divided. I thought, what are we in high school? I am not an extremely extroverted individual so I very much appreciate it when there are events where we have some "ice breaker" in order to get acquainted with other people. And further, part of being a good host is reaching out to your guests and getting to know them.

I am sure a lot of people will argue with me and maybe it is my responsibility to get out there and meet people myself, but I just think that if an event it is being held under the pretense that it is a forum where people can meet - something needs to be done to encourage that happens. Just a little friendly feedback on the Moms Night Out.

I actually mentioned that to my friend too. My friend Carly and I are also not to forward about hanging out with people in general. I guess I am kinda out of touch because I have been with my kids so long I forgot what it is to have a "semi-normal" conversation with another woman without becoming a story-teller of sorts. I did have a great time, but next time I will make a better effort to join a new 'Lunch-table' and get to know some other moms that have things in common!!
