Tater tots

Dragon Cafe Express

DRAGON CAFE EXPRESS, 7622 Dodge St. This smaller, takeout-geared Omaha version of LaVista's Dragon Cafe satisfies your comfort food cravings with big, affordable helpings of Chinese-American standards like chicken fried rice and crab rangoon. It also delivers to a wide swath of central Omaha.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays; 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Information: 392-1688 or www.dragoncafeexpress.com Prices: $

Mom scoop: There's no ambience and little to entertain you or the tots while you wait. So calling ahead for takeout, ordering online or requesting delivery (available in the area bounded by Interstate 80 and 42nd, Maple and 108th Streets for $2 or less with a $7.99 minimum order) may be your best bets.

There's also no kid's menu. But everything is served family style and suitable for sharing. Small orders are big enough for two and priced around $6 or $7 (including soup and rice). Coupons online and on takeout menus can further lower the price.
