The address might stump you, but this colorful Mexican eatery is hard to miss. Just look for the bright floral mural near 20th and L Streets. And step inside for friendly, bilingual service and specialties from central Mexico like the roast chicken, the cactus salad and one of the five rotating salsas.

Mom scoop: Maria Bonita has three under-$5 meals for kids aged 10 and under: cheese quesadilla, chicken or steak tacos or chicken strips (with fries or a side of rice and refried black beans). Dishes on our visits arrived piecemeal, which could be a problem if a certain little person's meal isn't the first delivered. The space is small, cheerful and middling noisy. You'll have to maneuver a few steps to get in the front door.
